McDonald’s McPlant FIFA World Cup 2026 Meal Review.

I don’t usually go to McDonald’s anymore, but since it was a World Cup meal, I thought it made sense to do. I probably would not have ordered McDonald’s otherwise, because I don’t really have it these days.

I used to order it all the time, but we have escaped the McDonald’s now.

The main thing with this meal is the collectible cup, because the food itself is basically just the normal McPlant meal. Nothing really felt that different apart from the packaging and the cup.

So yes, it does feel a bit like a marketing thing.

🍔 What I Ordered

I ordered the McPlant meal because I’m dairy-free, and that is usually the easiest option for me at McDonald’s.

I could have ordered a normal burger without cheese, but I couldn’t be bothered with the risk of them making a mistake. McDonald’s staff are always rushed, and even if you say no cheese, there is always that chance it ends up with cheese anyway.

So I went with the McPlant to keep it simple.

I also got fries, a side salad, the Raspberry X Sprite, and the World Cup collectible cup.

I paid £10.69 for a medium meal through Deliveroo, and that included the Raspberry X Sprite upgrade.

For comparison, the meal was £9.49 for a medium and £9.99 for a large in-store, so you are paying a bit more through Deliveroo.

🍟 The McDonald’s Experience

The burger was cold, which is basically the McDonald’s experience these days.

The actual burger inside the roll is absolutely fine, because it’s Beyond Meat, and I do think that part works well.

It’s more the rest of the burger I’m not that keen on.

I’m still not really sold on brioche-style rolls for burgers. I don’t fully get them, and I’m not sure I ever will.

The vegan cheese is good, but it reminds me of that processed burger cheese style, which I’ve tried to explain before and I don’t think many people knew what I meant.

It’s the sort of burger cheese I wish you could just buy on its own, but we’re not going down that road again.

It is an average burger because of the coldness and whatever sugars they like to add to it, with fries that were also pretty cold.

That is the thing with McDonald’s now. You know what you are getting, but I don’t know if that is always a good thing.

I do like McDonald’s fries when they are done properly. I still think they are better than Burger King fries. But I would rather have proper British takeaway chips, and I prefer Five Guys chips as well.

So McDonald’s wins against Burger King on fries, but that is about as generous as I can be.

🥗 Yes, I Got A Salad

I also got a side salad, I always like to eat a salad or veg with my food.

It was just a salad. I don’t really know why they chucked loads of bits on it, but there you go.

🥤 Raspberry X Sprite Was The Best Bit

The Raspberry X Sprite was actually pretty good.

The drink was cold, refreshing, and it tasted like raspberry. That is what you want from it really.

Cold food is not good. A cold drink is good. That is the difference.

Out of everything, the drink was probably the best part of the meal. I would actually rate the drink quite highly on its own.

🏆 The Collectible Cup

The main reason this meal exists is the World Cup collectible cup.

I thought I might get a football player or something actually World Cup-related, because it is a World Cup meal. I do like football, so I know the players.

But no.

I got Grimace.

I was expecting at least a football player, not Grimace. I don’t know if that is different in the UK or if that is just what they are doing, but it felt a bit disappointing.

The good thing is I may be able to give the cup to one of my nephews, so that is probably the only good bit about it.

But really, I did expect something more football-related.

💷 Was It Worth £10.69?

For £10.69 through Deliveroo, no, I don’t think it was worth it.

You are basically paying for the normal McPlant meal, a different bit of packaging, and a random collectible cup. The burger was cold, the fries were not exactly amazing, and the cup was not even a footballer.

The whole thing just felt very average.

I can see why I don’t order McDonald’s much anymore. It is easy food if you are in an emergency, but it is not how it used to be.

Even the buildings don’t feel the same anymore. The fries are not normally hot, the burgers are not normally hot, and it feels like the whole thing has lost a bit of what made it taste good years ago.

It is not terrible, but it is very average. The Raspberry X Sprite was good, but the actual meal was cold and not very exciting.

The cup was the main thing, and even that ended up being Grimace, which was not really what I expected from a World Cup meal.

Maybe I am missing something, but this felt more like a marketing thing than a proper World Cup meal.

Would I buy it again? No.

Was it worth the money? Not really.
