Black Sheep Coffee Colchester- Trying The New Oatly Cold Foam
After getting my haircut, I came out into the heat and thought this was probably the right time to try the new Oatly Cold Foam Iced Latte from Black Sheep Coffee.
I went to the Black Sheep Coffee in Colchester.
✂️ A Post-Haircut Coffee Stop In Colchester
I usually get my haircut once a month, and after that I normally go and buy a coffee because it is usually the only time I am properly in town.
I normally like to try and support the local coffee shops when I can.
Obviously, Black Sheep Coffee is a major chain, so this one was definitely more because I wanted to try the new Oatly Cold Foam.
☕ Why I Tried It
I had been browsing on Instagram lately and had seen a few creators showing new products that are about. I saw this one and thought, after my haircut, I may as well try it.
I am not usually big on cold coffee drinks. I do not really do them. But in this heat, it kind of made sense.
I had tried Oatly ice cream a couple of years ago, so I was interested to see what they were trying now with the cold foam.
I am also still dairy-free because of my dairy allergy, so when places bring out something new using Oatly, I am always a bit curious to see what it is like.
🖥️ Ordering At Black Sheep Coffee
I went on Thursday 28th, quite early, and it was not very busy.
I used to think Black Sheep Coffee was touchscreen-only, but this one did have a counter where you could order and pay normally. Maybe they have had complaints, or maybe it has always been there and I just missed it.
I know some of the London ones seem to be strictly touchscreen, which is not great when anything goes wrong. I did once get wrongly charged twice, and from what I found, there was not much I could do about it.
Anyway, I did actually order from the touchscreen, because I work in strange ways like that.
😐 Medium Was Smaller Than I Expected
I noticed when ordering the Oatly Cold Foam Iced Latte that it seemed to put the drink as a large for 20p extra.
I did order the medium coffee, but I thought medium was still fairly big. I was wrong lol.
So I won’t lie, I was annoyed, because it was tinier than I expected lol.
Like I said, I don’t buy these iced lattes, so I don’t have much to compare it with.
I do think once you’ve had ice put in it, then you would be better with large. Or maybe I was incredibly thirsty for coffee that day, I’m not too sure.
And I think the price reflects large. Maybe I secretly knew that I should be ordering large anyway lol.
I did kind of wish I had just ordered a coffee and gone to a local coffee shop instead. I don’t usually have these issues lol.
🥤 Did The Cold Foam Actually Do Much?
Anyway, taste-wise, I couldn’t tell much difference to be honest.
I’m not sure if this foam is a bit just for show, because drinking it through a straw, I can’t say I could tell much difference from a usual iced latte.
So it had to be for show, right? It does visually look good, because otherwise I couldn’t taste much difference.
I did notice a very late sweetness at the end, but it was too late. It was nearly over lol.
So hmm, maybe it needed more mixing. Who knows.
💷 Would I Buy It Again?
So would I buy it again for £5.20 for a medium?
Erggh, definitely not.
Prices are getting mad these days, and I am really not sure what is cheap or expensive anymore. I just simply hand money over now, because I am not shocked by any price anymore lol.
But it did feel expensive for just a drink, especially when taste-wise, it was not that different from a normal iced latte.
So I was not that impressed at all.
Stay Sneaky, everyone.
